Senior Data Engineer

We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer for a consulting assignment with a large international organization within the retail sector. The role focuses on building and managing modern data platforms in a cloud-based environment.

• Experience Level: Senior (approx. 6–10 years of relevant experience)
• Location: Stockholm
• Remote Work: Up to 95% remote work possible
• Start Date: April 1, 2026
• End Date: November 30, 2026
• Allocation: Full-time (100%)

Role Overview

In this role you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing data products that support analytical and business needs. You will work closely with product teams and stakeholders to design scalable data solutions and contribute to the evolution of a modern data platform architecture.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the full lifecycle of data products, including development, optimization, and support.
• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and data products aligned with the organization’s target architecture.
• Apply DevOps principles in data engineering workflows, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code.
• Work with cloud-based infrastructure and ensure solutions meet requirements related to security, scalability, performance, and observability.
• Collaborate with product owners, engineers, and stakeholders to define and evolve data-driven capabilities.
• Contribute to a distributed data platform approach and support cross-team collaboration around data products.
• Continuously evaluate existing solutions and help reduce technical debt while improving platform quality.
• Stay up to date with developments in modern data, analytics, and cloud technologies.

Required Qualifications

• Strong interest in data engineering, technology, and collaborative problem-solving.
• Minimum 4+ years of hands-on experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Practical experience with GCP services such as Dataflow and BigQuery.
• Experience using Data Build Tool (DBT) for data transformation.
• Familiarity with data storage formats such as Avro and Parquet.
• Strong knowledge of SQL or similar data query languages.
• Programming experience in Python, Java, or Scala.
• Good understanding of data modeling techniques and design trade-offs.
• Experience working with both NoSQL and relational databases.
• Experience collaborating in cross-functional teams with strong communication skills.
• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of tasks.
• Experience with data visualization tools.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.

Nice to Have

Understanding of retail industry processes and business context.
