Background and Introduction

GEIC is searching for a software asset manager consultant that will be responsible for assessing, managing and optimizing GEIC and it’s customers software licensing landscape.

This position is ongoing until further notice and is for 100% on-site in Gothenburg or remote.


Responsibilities and Duties:

• Advanced Software Licensing Knowledge – Deep understanding of licensing models, terms, and

compliance rules for major software vendors (e.g., Microsoft, SAP, Adobe, VMware, Autodesk,

Teamviewer (siemens), Catia (dassault), Figma.


• License Optimization Expertise – Proven ability to identify cost-saving opportunities, optimize

license allocations, and reduce unused or underutilized software.


• SAM Tool Proficiency – Advanced skills with Software Asset Management tools (e.g., Open IT)

and data analysis platforms.


• Compliance & Audit Management – High experience managing vendor audits, ensuring

contractual compliance, and mitigating legal or financial risks.


• Data Analysis & Reporting – Strong ability to collect, interpret, and present complex licensing and

usage data to support decision-making.


• Vendor Negotiation Skills – Skilled in negotiating licensing agreements and renewals to achieve

favorable commercial and contractual terms.


• Strategic SAM Planning – Capable of aligning SAM initiatives with business objectives, IT

roadmaps, and budget constraints.


• Process & Policy Development – Expertise in defining and implementing SAM policies,

governance frameworks, and lifecycle management processes.


• Stakeholder Engagement & Communication – Ability to communicate complex licensing

scenarios clearly to executives, procurement teams, and technical staff.


• Risk & Cost Management – Identifying compliance risks, forecasting licensing costs, and

managing the software budget effectively as well as legal and contract management.


• Cross-Platform & Cloud Knowledge – Understanding of cloud licensing models (SaaS, PaaS,

IaaS) and hybrid environments, including Azure, and Google Cloud.


• Leadership & Mentorship – Guiding junior SAM staff, driving best practices, and leading crossfunctional

optimization initiatives.



Qualifications:

• SAM Certification preferred

• Strong knowledge of software licensing and compliance

• Strong experience in manage audits, contracts, and vendor relations

• Experience with SAM tools (e.g, Flexera, Open AI)

• Experience of reviewing software agreements

• Experience with working with data analytics

• Experience working with license servers

• Strong analytical, reporting, and cost-optimization skills

• Clear communication and stakeholder management skills
