Göteborg (Onsite)

As a BI Developer, your main responsibility is to design, build, and operate reporting and analytics solutions that help digitalise our ports and optimise the Freight customer journey end-to-end. You will work primarily in the Microsoft Power Platform and Microsoft analytics stack — including Power BI, Power Apps, and the broader Microsoft Fabric/Azure data platform — to turn operational data into actionable insights for both frontline operations and office-based stakeholders. You will own the full lifecycle: shaping requirements with the business, modelling data, building dashboards and apps, ensuring data quality and security, and continuously improving how we work with data in Ports & Terminals. Your work will directly support day-to-day decision-making in areas such as workforce planning, terminal operations, cargo handling, and customer service. You will work closely with colleagues across domains (operations, commercial, finance) as well as product owners, data engineers, integration developers and analysts to ensure that we display actionable insights to the users of our dashboards.

Start: ASP - One year

Place: Gothenburg

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Deliver high-quality BI products
  • Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and semantic data models to support operational, tactical, and strategic decision-making across Ports & Terminals.
  • Data modelling and data preparation
  • Design and maintain robust data models that reflect core business entities (vessel calls, terminal resources, gate movements, units, customers, incidents, etc.) and make them reusable across reports and apps.
  • Data quality, governance, and security
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and refresh reliability for all published datasets and reports. Apply role-based access control, row-level security, and data-classification standards in line with GDPR and internal governance.
  • Business partnering
  • Translate operational issues into analytical products: understand the question, challenge the KPI, and propose the right metric, report, or alert.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders in Ports & Terminals (port operations, claims agents, resource planning) to prioritise what creates real impact.
  • Operations, lifecycle & support
  • Publish and manage workspaces, datasets, dataflows, and apps in line with Stena DevOps guidelines.
  • Implement and follow CI/CD practices for BI artefacts using Azure DevOps (version control, automated deployment of reports / dataflows).
  • Monitor refresh jobs, gateway health, and downstream usage; proactively resolve issues in business-critical reporting.
  • Contribute to 24/7 readiness of critical operational dashboards by ensuring stability, monitoring and alerting are in place.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Relevant university degree and ~5 years of hands-on experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or reporting in a complex operational environment.
  • Proven experience building end-to-end BI solutions in the Microsoft stack, including:
  • Power BI (data modelling with DAX, Power Query, semantic models, row-level security)
  • Azure DevOps or similar for versioning and controlled releases.
  • Strong data-modelling skills: ability to translate business processes into clean star/snowflake models and KPIs that are reliable and reusable.
  • Good understanding of data-refresh patterns, incremental refresh, gateway configuration, parameterisation, and performance optimisation in Power BI.
  • Strong grasp of data governance and compliance, including GDPR, data classification, and “security by design”.
  • Ability to work in an Agile, product-oriented way: iterative delivery, backlog thinking, quick feedback loops with users, focus on adoption and value.
  • Comfortable collaborating with data engineers, architects, and operational stakeholders — and able to “speak both languages”: business process and data/tech.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities; you are motivated by turning messy operational reality into something measurable, visible, and actionable.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain KPIs, definitions, and trends to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and constructive way.
