Development Engineer,

Volvo Penta is looking for a talented and experienced Engine Development Engineer to join our team.


We believe that you have a genuine interest of working with testing and optimization of internal combustion engines and we expect that you have both the knowledge of fundamental combustion theory, engine controls and experience of developing combustion engines.

About us

Industrial Development and Calibration within product development is responsible for testing and optimization of both hardware and software regarding performance, emissions and durability of all our industrial combustion engines.


As a Development Engineer, you will be accountable for delivering test and optimization tasks. You will be a part of a project team within the Industrial/Marine Development and Calibration teams. The work is mainly conducted at the Volvo Penta Lundby test facilities but sometimes travels are needed to support customers or projects at other locations.

Main tasks and responsibilities


In this role, you will work with various tasks within engine testing like test object preparation, performance testing or advanced software calibration of engine and aftertreatment systems. You need abilities to understand control systems by reading functional descriptions and using tools such as AVL Concerto, ATI Vision, Python and internal development tools.


Collaboration is essential in this position, as you will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of engine systems while providing technical support and expertise throughout the product development lifecycle. Additionally, you will prepare detailed reports on engine performance findings, calibration adjustments, and validation results, presenting your findings to stakeholders and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Master of Science or similar relevant technical experience

• Several years of experience in combustion engine development

• Extensive engine calibration experience

• Fluent in English, written and spoken

• Driver's license for car
