Functional Safety and Cyber Security Engineer


Purpose:

The FuSa and CS Engineer provides support to Motion Control and central FuSa and CS organization. The position belongs to Motion Control.


Responsibilities:

-Spearhead FuSa and CS for future systems and architectures for vessels and vehicles e.g. autonomous products and connected solutions.

-Support Motion Control to ensure compliance of their work products.

-Be an active interface of Functional Safety and Cyber Security.

-Carry out and review FuSa and CS related activities in the team such as creation of Hazard Analysis, Functional Safety Concept, Technical Safety Concept, FMEAs, Test specifications (system and software level) and Safety Case.

-Create detailed safety mechanisms at system level and software level.

-Support judgment of Definition of Ready (or equivalent) and Definition of Done (or equivalent).

-Secure and drive planning of related work

-Review hardware and software safety requirements towards supporting teams.

-Be the primary interface between the team and the Functional Safety Manager for all functional safety related matters..

-Organize functional safety joint reviews with suppliers.

-Organize verification reviews with internal stakeholders.

-Organize confirmation reviews with functional safety assessors.

-Participate in evaluations of proposed technical solutions with the purpose to judge the possibility to secure the solutions in terms of functional safety.

-Participate in the concerned Community of Practice when needed.

Experience:

The FSE benefits from practical experience in:

-Creating safety concepts and requirements at system and software level.

-Planning and carrying out safety integration and validation tests.

-Carrying out safety or quality analysis, such as Hazard Analysis, FMEA, FTA, etc.

-Experience from working with simulations of mechatronics systems.

-Coaching and teaching individuals, teams and groups.

-Managing and cooperating with suppliers.

-Experience working with Cybersecurity, ISO 21434 and EN 62433 including TARA activities or similar.

-Experience working with machine safety, ISO 13849 and ISO 26262 including HARA activities or similar.


Qualifications and merits:

-Master of Science in Mechatronics/Vehicle engineering/equivalent

-Good knowledge in Physics, Mechatronics, Mechanical engineering, Control engineering, Vehicle dynamics, System modelling/engineering, Functional requirements and Electronics.

-Development of safety related functions, systems, hardware or software.

-Good understanding of system development of embedded real time systems

-Good understanding of model-based development

-Professional safety engineering degree from formal education is meritorious.

-ISO 26262 or other functional safety standards e.g. standards for machine directives

-ISO 21434, EN 62433 or other cybersecurity standards

-Familiar with Volvo Group/Penta processes

-Volvo Group/Penta product knowledge

-Fluent in English
